Marie-Claire’s Strawberry Marsala Recipe

Here is a recipe for one of my favorite desserts, Strawberry Marsala. I hope you enjoy it :)

1 1/2 cups sweet Marsala wine
1/4 cup sugar
Zest and juice of 1 lemon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 lb strawberries
16 amaretti or 4 long biscotti cookies, crushed
2 cups vanilla bean gelato or ice cream
For the sauce:In a small pan, mix wine, sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice over medium-high heat. Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring continuously till the sugar has dissolved. Cook until the liquid has reduced by half,about 25 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the nutmeg. Allow the sauce to cool for 30 minutes. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving (can be made 3 days in advance).

Serve with Gelato!
